Nashville’s become nationally renowned for its amazing culinary talent and top-tier restaurants. Many of its restaurants have won national awards and acclaim, and the amazing food culture is often a big draw for tourists and relocating individuals. As a matter of fact, there are so many amazing restaurants, that it’s easy to find a great place for dinner.
But what about brunch? Sure, you can find some cheap diners which produce good food– so cheap that you won’t feel bad about not making it yourself– but many breakfast foods are so common and traditional that it’s very difficult and takes a lot of technical skill to make breakfast and brunch fare which really stands out. And of course, a major component of a great brunch is the cocktails: a brunch without amazing cocktails barely deserves the name!
Husk
Located in downtown Nashville at SoBro, Husk is known as one of Nashville’s most inventive, cutting-edge restaurants. Though often modern takes on Southern contacts come up gauche and overcomplicated, they have an amazing brunch menu which highlights heritage ingredients. They also make some of the best cocktails in town, all of which highlight and complement the idea of an updated Southern breakfast.
Tavern
Though for lunch we’d note that Tavern might run a little expensive compared to other restaurants in the Midtown area, for brunch they really pull out all the stops. They make amazing mimosas, bloody marys, and sangria… and offer them at great prices. Their griddles and egg creations are to die for, and their staple burger is among the better ones you can get in that price bracket.
Saint Anejo
Saint Anejo hasa 2-for-1 cocktail special at brunch, including mimosas and sangrias that should come with their own warning labels: they’re poured strong. They serve large sizes, and have amazing, Mexican-themed breakfast fare with complementing southern-style options, such as hot chicken and waffleswith jalapeno vanilla syrup. As a warning, though, it attracts a crowd!
5th and Taylor
This Germantown spot regularly serves a five-star brunch at its gorgeous warehouse location. The drinks are spot-on, and feature bellinis, mimosas, and other high-brow cocktails, and it’s generally not overcrowded. The grits are a crowd favorite, but their biscuits and eggs benedict are also top-notch.
Marche
Marche is the East Nashville spot for brunch. It’s often so crowded that there are long lines for tables, but if you’re lucky, you come in at just the right time before the rush and slide in. If you don’t, expect it to be loud, crowded, and to have waited an hour for seating. It’s decorated beautifully in the country cafe style, and serves some of the best coffee in town. But the blood orange mimosas are what you really want, and its brunch fare is primarily in the French provincial style, with croissant french toast, crepes, and so on.
