Nashville is an incredibly green city, and almost every neighborhood in Nashville has a beautiful, manicured park in walking distance. And as more and more people move to Nashville, the local government has made preserving these spaces a high priority: even 12 South’s handsome park has seen major upgrades and the inclusion of a new community center which offers free community events and services! But when you’re trying to decide which park to head out to for a run with the family dog or a fun time relaxing and picnicking with friends, what are the top options? The answer might be different than you think!

Sevier Park in 12 South

Sevier park is small, but home to the fantastic, modern community center we mentioned above. It has a walking track, gym, and even a fitness room! There are also smaller rooms for classes and smaller community events. The grounds are gorgeous and large, with beautiful picnic areas, handsome mature oaks. There’s plenty of space for frisbee or a dog walk, and there are often food trucks in the park on weekends. The best part? It’s walkable to many of 12 South’s coolest restaurants and shops, and is actually a historic location, with a quaint old cabin on site.

Percy Warner Park South of Green Hills

Percy Warner and Edwin Warner parks are located south of Green Hills, and are perhaps the biggest parks in the Nashville area. And that’s fantastic: most other Nashville parks get so full in summer that it can be difficult to find unobscructed space to have fun, picnic, or play with Fido! But visiting these parks, there’s no worry! Percy Warner in particular has massive paved and natural trails for running, walking, and hiking, and especially in fall, has absolutely gorgeous foliage. As a plus, they also have some large events! For example, Percy Warner hosts the Iroquois Steeplechase!
